WHSmith donates books to hospitals across the UK

This summer, WHSmith Trust and PLC are donating books to 10 hospitals across the UK.  Each hospital will receive 300 books, to create a new library or supplement an existing one.

Cathy Garlick, Assistant Director of Operations, Women and Children’s Directorate at Ealing Hospital NHS Trust, said: “We are delighted that WHSmith has chosen Ealing Hospital to make this donation.  It is a fantastic initiative and one which will be used and enjoyed by children and families.”

The WHSmith Trust is an independent charity that aims to promote literacy and support the local communities in which WHSmith staff and customers live and work.

Srivatsava Kondapally, Manager of WHSmith store in Ealing Hospital, said:

“We’re really excited to have the opportunity to support our local hospital and help to create library facilities for patients and staff.  It’s a great way for the staff at WHSmith to get involved with their local communities and help promote literacy.”

The ‘Books for Hospitals’ initiative will see 3,000 books donated to ten hospitals across the country this summer.
